Hello everyone,
It’s such a new season we are all experiencing in life and we unfortunately have news that is sad to share: Svend has passed away today. We got a call from Glendale memorial hospital. Earlier this year we received a voicemail explaining that Svend had been hospitalized. Art, his friend had passed away and Art‘s father passed away in the same week. Art‘s mom had ambulance come pick Svend up. Svend was living with Art and his family.
From there, the hospital informed us that Svend needed some procedures done and the procedures were explained to us and I prayed about it and we made a decision that Svend should get a Operation that would stop the irregularity in his heart beat.
The hospital also asked us if Svend should be transferred to a nursing home and that they had lined up a facility for him. So we asked them questions about the facility and decided it was a good option keeping in mind this was at the peak of Covid and we were in Austria and had no way to go there to California so all had to be organized from here.
Svend got transferred and we spoke to him once, he recognized my voice and told me he needed his cane and his hearing aid. I talk to the nurse about getting a battery for his hearing aid and they said they would look into it. Svend said he loves us and if we were coming and I said we would love to and explained to him about corona virus. He kept asking us about Art, he wasn’t informed that he had passed away.
We tried calling over the days and weeks to get a hold of Svend and no nurse answered the phone. We made complaints. It was very frustrating. Thomas made Svend a Photobook of memories and we called to see if he received this book and it was so complicated to get him this book. The home did not arrange a battery for him. We last called 3 weeks ago to ask them about the hearing aid and we said we will just send one in if someone could please just make sure to install it.
Today we got a call that he passed away.
I thank you all for your wonderful hearts being and generous and loving. God Bless all of you and your families and I say a prayer for all of us for patience, understanding, mercy, and for our thanksgiving to increase. May the Lord Bless You and Keep you, strength you and protect you in Jesus name, Amen.
